The Lost Monkey
Chapter 1
One day Maria and her family (mum, dad and four brothers) were sat on a branch at least 15 feet above the muddy grass watching the glistening cars go by. They lived in a safari park with lots of other cheeky
Mischievous monkeys. Their house was a two-meter log that had once been a tree, but got knocked down in a vicious thunderstorm.
Maria was a brown chimpanzee with black beady eyes. Her brothers were called:
Zac who was 3 years old
Harry who was 7 years old
Fred who was 5 years old
Josh who was 1 years old
And Maria was 4 years old.
Suddenly a red car zoomed past them and a lot of the monkeys chased it and jumped onto it. Then Maria and her family did the same. A few minutes later the car had turned from a shiny red car to a dull silver and grey car with two missing windscreen wipers and a burst tyre. The man had got out of his car and shooed everyone away except for Maria. She sat on the car gazing dreamily at the cross looking man. Maria turned around and stuck her bum at him. The man’s twig like hands were just about to grab her when a stubby little man named Morris (who was the owner of the safari park) grabbed her. They both had a long and tiring row until till the man in the grey and silver car got back in and drove away. Once he had drove out of the gates, everyone stared at him and his car wide eyed. All the people all the people who had not gone past the monkey part drove home and so did quite a few of the other people.
Chapter 2
The next day the monkeys were having a great time because no cars were driving past. Morris was waiting at the pay point for someone to come. Then a few shining cars came in. When they got to the monkey area they sped past.
That night Morris came to count the monkeys.
“ 48. I’m going.” Said Morris once he had counted all 48 monkeys.
That night there was a rattling noise at the gates. A black figure crept into the monkey apartment. A few screeches could be heard then all was quiet.
“46, 47, 4ty, wait. There is a missing monkey.” Said Morris unhappily. He checked all of the families and when he got to Maria’s, Maria was gone.
Chapter 3
A month after Maria had gone missing, a girl named Bonnie sat on the seat of a shiny red bus reading. She looked up from her book to see a tall man in black suit walk quickly off the bus.
“ Come on Bonnie, we are getting off here. “ said her mum.
Bonnie and her mum followed the man into a cafe. While mum went to the counter to order her 3rd coffee, Bonnie strolled over to the tall man.
“Hello,” said Bonnie brightly.
“ Hi,” grunted the man.
“You know that monkey in the safari park?” asked Bonnie.
“Yes,” he replied.
Well, do you know who took her?” asked Bonnie.
”Bonnie!” shouted her mum.” We are going now.”
“Sorry… I’ve got to go now.” Said Bonnie.
Once Bonnie and her mum had walked out of the café, the man murmured
“I know who took the monkey…someone like me.”
Chapter 4
“What!” Exclaimed Bonnie. Sprinting back into the café. But he had already ran along the busy street.
“Mum! Mum!” cried Bonnie. “ That man said he took the monkey!”
KNOC KNOCK!
A door on the 3rd floor of a block of flats creaked open.
“Are you Mr John Thompson? Asked a policewoman
“Yeh” he grunted.
“Well Mr Thompson, this little girl named Bonnie took td me that you the missing monkey.
“May I check your house?”
Chapter 5
“Hello Morris” said the police woman ”I have a present for you”
She handed him a moving box. He opened it.
“Maria! Your back!” exclaimed Morris.” I’m so happy to see you!”
The policewoman explained to Morris about the man and he took Maria because his car got ruined.
Maria was very happy to be reunited with her family. So was Morris. He had put up security cameras all around the safari park to make sure nothing else was taken.
If you ever see six happy monkeys in a safari park, you never know, but that could be Maria and her family!
